Work with us

Junior Business Analyst

← Back to open positions
Remote, UK-based

The work

You’ll deliver real business analysis across our client projects:

  • Running stakeholder interviews and workshops to capture requirements and understand current practice
  • Producing as-is and to-be process maps (swimlanes, BPMN or similar) that clients can use
  • Mapping data flows and integrations between systems: what moves, where, how and why
  • Documenting business rules
  • Writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps, working closely with our engineers
  • Producing clear written deliverables to an agreed scope and timescale

Engagements are project-based and fully remote, arranged as client demand arises. You’ll work independently on defined deliverables, liaising with the Dataqubed team as needed to align with client requirements.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrable, hands-on business analysis ability: you can take a messy process and produce requirements an engineer can build from, independently and to a high standard. This may come from consultancy, in-house or public sector roles, or project work.
  • Confidence with process mapping tools such as Visio and Miro.
  • Clear, precise writing and the ability to explain processes to non-technical audiences.
  • The ability to work closely with technical engineers and translate business needs into requirements.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, including hands-on experience of prompting them, and an understanding of why a human must stay in the loop.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (boards, work items, backlogs) is a plus, as is T-SQL, enough to query data and check what a system is really doing.
  • A BCS Business Analysis qualification, familiarity with the Microsoft stack (Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Dataverse), or experience in higher education (student records, admissions, statutory returns) are bonuses, but not essential.

We especially like working with people who are curious about how things really work, not just how they’re documented. It’s how we think, and that instinct matters more to us than years of experience.

You’ll need to be reachable during UK working hours and available for agreed client meetings and workshops.
