Recently, Jisc published a sector briefing that named something many of us had been watching accumulate for years. Technical legacy, they argue, is costing UK universities between £2 billion and £4.7 billion annually - through duplicated systems, unmaintained infrastructure, and lost staff productivity. The report called tackling it a strategic imperative. It was right to do so.
